About

When I started this blog I was a proud stay-at-home, work-at-home, homeschooling mom. Then my daughter grew up, graduated and headed off to college, but the blog remains as a time capsule of our family life.

I have a passion for fiber arts, especially knitting and spinning. My best friend is my husband and my daughter is my life’s joy! Together we’re working on our old house, sharing each other’s interests and enjoying being a family.

The name of my blog comes from a gorgeous needlepoint picture hanging in my living room. It was given to us as a wedding present by a very good friend of my mom’s. The picture at the top of the blog is a small section of the needlepoint. We think it’s very fitting, welcoming and warm, cozy and homey, all that we want our own home to be!

  1. I am working on your You Can Do It Scarf Sampler. I’ve knit for about 5 yrs but it’s a fun project. My question is re section 5, spiral pattern. To the right of the chart is the meaning for each symbol. There is an elongated square in both the chart and the explanation of symbols. Beside it you say “repeat these 6 stitches 3x”. I don’t understand what you mean there….which 6 stitches…where? Why the elongated square?
